Quick start

Store your first secrets and pull them into a project in about five minutes.

1. Create your vault

Create an account. Sign up with email and password, Google, Microsoft, GitHub or GitLab. Email sign-ups confirm their address before the first sign-in.
Create an organization, an application and an environment. For example Acme → Payments API → production.
Add your variables. Use New Variable, or Import JSON to paste a JSON object with several keys at once. Mark sensitive values as secret.

2. Pull secrets with the CLI

Install the CLI from npm, sign in once from the browser, then download the environment's variables.

smart-grow cloud_download

cloud_login shows a code and a link; open the link, check the code and approve the device. cloud_download asks for the organization, application and environment, and writes the variables to smart-grow.env unless you choose another file name.

Tip

in CI, use an API key with smart-grow cloud_sync instead of a personal sign-in. See CLI.
